June 12, 2026v3.4.2

  • Email a song or setlist to someone, with an optional short message.
  • Shared and emailed PDFs now match your saved print layout.
  • Email a setlist as its running order, and share setlists from the sidebar too.

  • Setlist event dates now go back 10 years.

June 11, 2026v3.4.1

  • Shared songs and setlists now open the same Print preview as the app, with Save as PDF.
  • Setlists print cleaner: a set that fits stays on one page instead of splitting across the break.

June 9, 2026v3.4.0

  • New Print & Export window for songs: a live page preview, then Print or Save as PDF.
  • Pick paper size, portrait or landscape, 1 to 3 columns, text size, and high contrast.
  • The printout matches your view: transpose, capo, chord color, and hidden chords or tabs.
  • Export to ChordPro, Word, or plain text from the same window, with your transpose applied.

June 11, 2026v3.3.9

  • Song duration is easier to enter on mobile: just type the digits and the m:ss colon appears for you.
  • The "back to setlist" button now stays after you edit and save a song.

June 11, 2026v3.3.8

  • Settings now shows storage as Library and Cached files separately, so you can see what Clear cached files actually frees.
  • Tapping Update while your library is syncing now finishes the sync first, then reloads.

June 11, 2026v3.3.7

  • New docs: how the editor's two formats work, Chords over Lyrics and ChordPro.
  • A Formatting guide link now sits next to Lyrics & Chords in the editor.

June 11, 2026v3.3.6

June 11, 2026v3.3.5

June 4, 2026v3.3.3

  • More chord colors: Coral, Pink, Purple, and Turquoise, with a sharper key badge.
  • Chord diagrams now follow your font: chord names and the Frets heading match Default, Serif, or Sans.

June 2, 2026v3.3.2

  • Display settings: choose a Default, Serif, or Sans font for your chord sheets.
  • Pick a chord and key color (or turn it off), with a live preview in Settings.

May 29, 2026v3.3.1

  • Fixed: Nashville numbers now stay put when you transpose or capo a song. They were shifting with the transpose, which defeats the point of the number system.

May 28, 2026v3.3.0

  • New: Folders. Organize your songs into named folders — create from the + button, drag songs in, or move them via the ... menu.
  • New: Bulk select songs and drag the whole group into a folder at once.
  • New: Import directly into a folder — pick a destination in the preflight screen before songs are saved.
  • New: Opening a song automatically opens its folder in the sidebar.
  • New: Creating a new song while inside a folder adds it to that folder automatically.
  • Docs: new Folders guide at fretlist.com/docs/folders.

May 27, 2026v3.2.2

  • Fixed: re-importing a Fretlist PDF export no longer adds unexpected leading spaces to lyrics and chords.

  • Fixed: key, duration, and BPM badges no longer appear as the artist field when re-importing a Fretlist PDF.
  • Fixed: section headers now import correctly when re-importing a Fretlist PDF.
  • Fixed: song duration (from the badge line) is now preserved when re-importing a Fretlist PDF.
  • Fixed: chord positions (chords above lyrics) now survive a re-import of a Fretlist PDF without being scrambled.
  • Fixed: the artist field is no longer populated with chord names or fret numbers when re-importing a Fretlist PDF.
  • Fixed: key, capo, and tuning are no longer overwritten by AI guesses when re-importing a Fretlist PDF.
  • Fixed: first chord line no longer disappears when re-importing a Fretlist PDF.
  • Fixed: extra spaces between words (from PDF extraction) are now removed on re-import.

May 26, 2026v3.2.1

  • Fixed: importing a Fretlist PDF export now correctly extracts title, artist, key, and capo without header lines leaking into the song content.
  • Fixed: section headers like [Verse] are no longer accidentally removed during AI metadata extraction on import.
  • PDF exports: section headings now show a subtle ## marker so re-importing a PDF round-trips correctly.
  • Import now always shows the preflight screen so you can pick a destination folder before songs are saved.
  • Clicking Import while inside a folder pre-selects that folder so songs land in the right place.
  • Fixed: 'already in your library' duplicate warning no longer fires for songs you have deleted.
  • Fixed: duplicate detection no longer incorrectly flags songs as already imported when other users have shared songs with the same title.

May 26, 2026v3.1.8

  • Fixed: A-shape barre chords (like B, C#m, Dsus2) now correctly mute the low E string in chord diagrams.

May 22, 2026v3.1.7

  • When a new version is available, a 'Reload' prompt appears so you get it without closing the tab.
  • Settings now shows which version of the app you're running — handy for support.

May 21, 2026v3.2.0

  • Folders — organise your songs into folders. Create, rename, and delete folders from the + menu.
  • Click a folder to enter it; click the back arrow to return to your full library.
  • Move songs into folders by dragging or via the right-click context menu.
  • Select multiple songs with Cmd/Ctrl + hover, then move or delete them all at once.
  • Search always covers your full library across all folders.
  • When importing, choose which folder new songs land in.
  • Drag a file directly onto a folder row to import straight into that folder.
  • New docs page: Organizing songs with folders — covers creating, moving, bulk operations, import, search, and more.

May 21, 2026v3.1.6

  • Export all songs in a setlist at once — one button in the setlist export menu downloads a ZIP of PDFs for every song.
  • Shared songs now let viewers show or hide chords and tabs independently.

May 21, 2026v3.1.5

  • Fixed: having multiple tabs open no longer causes unexpected logouts.
  • Fixed: the app occasionally showed a login screen offline instead of your songs.
  • Fixed: 'Go to App' button on the homepage now appears correctly when you're signed in.

May 21, 2026v3.1.4

May 20, 2026v3.1.3

  • Sign-in code entry now auto-submits when you type all 6 digits — no need to tap the button.
  • Confirmation link state now appears in a styled box so it's easier to spot in the form.

May 20, 2026v3.1.2

  • ChordPro section directives ({start_of_verse}, {start_of_chorus}, etc.) now render as proper section headers with labels.
  • ChordPro {comment:} and {c:} directives now render as section headers.
  • Annotation chords like [Dm7 (play twice)] now render correctly — chord name in amber, annotation in plain text.
  • Deleting a setlist now removes it from the sidebar immediately instead of requiring a page reload.

May 19, 2026v3.1.1

  • Fixed a bug where clicking the email confirmation link sent new users to the homepage instead of signing them in.
  • New users now see a clear confirmation link state in the sign-in form; returning users see a one-time code entry.

May 18, 2026v3.1.0

  • New user onboarding flow. Three screens route you into a persona (Perform, Practice, Organize), seed a starter library of four classic songs, and show a tailored first action on the dashboard.
  • Set a password during onboarding (optional). Useful for accounts created via Google or magic link.
  • Install prompt step now lists three reasons to add Fretlist to your home screen, including offline access.

May 17, 2026v3.0.10

  • Frets instrument picker now shows a purple indicator when the instrument differs from the song's saved default. A reset button restores the song default.

May 16, 2026v3.0.9

  • Bulk PDF import (more than 5 PDFs at once) now preserves chord positions, matching the single-file import behavior.
  • Skipped duplicates dialog now shows the actual song titles. Added an Import anyway button to bring them in as separate songs.

May 15, 2026v3.0.8

  • PDF import now preserves chord positions — chords stay above the right words instead of collapsing to the left margin.

May 12, 2026v3.0.7

  • PDF exports now include chord diagrams and reflect your capo, transpose, and voicing settings — exactly what you see on screen.
  • PDF layout is more compact: smaller margins, tighter font, and 8 chord diagrams per row instead of 6.
  • Play Mode exit button on desktop no longer gets hidden behind the Frets panel.
  • Duplicate detection when importing by pasting a chord sheet now works correctly.
  • Imported songs that need review are now labeled with a Review Draft heading in the editor.

May 12, 2026v3.0.6

  • Pasting from Firefox on Windows now removes blank lines between chord lines and their lyrics — the previous fix only covered one of the two Firefox blank-line patterns.
  • Blank lines between tab string rows are also removed when pasting from Firefox.

May 12, 2026v3.0.5

  • Sort by Artist in the song list. Covers group by who wrote them; songs without an artist go last.
  • Search now hints you can search by artist name, not just title.

May 11, 2026v3.0.4

  • Play Mode header on iPad landscape now lays out correctly
  • Frets panel state is now remembered across sessions
  • Setlist back link now appears above the song title when navigating from a setlist
  • Chord names with a trailing dash (Em3-, Am6-) now recognized correctly
  • Play Mode no longer shows blank chord cards marked as No chart
  • Blank line spacers now scale with the current font size

May 10, 2026v3.0.3

  • Text in parentheses now renders in italic (standard for backing vocals and optional parts)
  • Sessions no longer die when switching devices or reopening a stale tab
  • Ukulele songs now show ukulele chord diagrams in song view, not guitar
  • Frets / Text / Hidden toggle now shows for all songs, not just those with a [Chords] block
  • Guitar/Ukulele switch in the Frets panel now syncs live to your other devices

May 9, 2026v3.0.1

  • Ukulele tab lines starting with the C string (C|---) now render correctly
  • Voicing-numbered chords like [C-2] now recognized. Use {define: C-2 ...} for a dedicated diagram.
  • Chord diagrams now show a proper barre bar instead of five separate dots (e.g. F/C)
  • Frets panel no longer shows chord cards for strumming markers (D, DU, U) or bar notation (G|, D|)
  • More blank line fixes when pasting from Ultimate Guitar on Firefox on Windows

May 8, 2026v3.0.0

  • Frets — visual chord diagrams for every song. Add a [Chords] block to define the shapes used in a song; they render as a row of fingering grids above the lyrics.
  • Guitar and ukulele ship with a full built-in library. Mandolin and banjo are supported too — add your own voicings with [Chords:mandolin] or [Chords:banjo].
  • Capo-aware diagrams: set a capo and every shape shifts to show what you actually finger on the neck.
  • Three display modes — Frets (grid diagrams), Text (chord names + notation), or Hidden. Your choice is saved per device.
  • Tap any chord card to pick a different voicing. In Song View the change is just for you (like setting a transpose); in Edit View it saves to the song for everyone.
  • Voicing editor with live SVG preview as you type notation, a scrollable library carousel, and a shape-preserving barre-slide fallback on transpose.
  • Cards with a personal voicing show a small purple dot so you always know which shapes you've adjusted.
  • Chord hover previews — hover over any chord name in the lyrics and a mini diagram pops up.
  • Frets panel in Play Mode — a rail on desktop/landscape tablet, a dock at the bottom on phone. Section-aware: only the chords for the current section are shown as you scroll.
  • Press F in Play Mode to toggle the Frets panel open and closed.
  • ChordPro support: use {define:} directives for voicings and {instrument:} to switch between instrument contexts. Switching between Chords over Lyrics and ChordPro tabs in the editor preserves all voicings and instrument assignments.
  • Chord block included in PDF and DOCX exports based on your current view mode.
  • Timing badges (tempo, time signature, duration) added to PDF and DOCX exports.
  • Multi-column chord list in Text view, capped at 560px wide.
  • Chord cards scroll horizontally by default with an expand toggle for a full wrapped grid.
  • Song header redesigned with badge pills for key, capo, tuning, and tempo.
  • Play Mode floating controls redesigned — icons updated, Frets toggle added.
  • Smaller default font on mobile Play Mode for a better full-screen reading experience.
  • Section change in Play Mode now triggers sooner (60% threshold) so the panel updates before you're already past the section.
  • Settings > Features: turn Frets on or off per device.
  • Demo song ships with a [Chords] block so new users see Frets working on day one.
  • New docs page: Getting the most out of Frets — covers the [Chords] block, ChordPro format, view modes, voicing editing, and the Play Mode panel.

  • Migration guides for OnSong and SongbookPro moved from Blog to Docs with improved layout

  • Printing a song from iPhone no longer leaks the floating action buttons onto the page
  • Privacy, Terms, Changelog, and comparison pages now show Sign In / Get Started (or Sign Out / Go to App) instead of a back-to-home link
  • Search-bar slash shortcut hint is hidden on touch devices where it's not useful

April 23, 2026v2.6.2

  • Signed-out-unexpectedly fix — a follow-up round of the zombie-session bug that could still fire on fast page navigations; the server no longer participates in token refresh at all
  • "Take me there" on the dashboard export tip now lands directly on the Library tab's export card
  • Autofilled fields (name, email) no longer render with a mismatched yellow background
  • Removed the top loader bar during navigation — it was stalling on slow networks and distracting on fast ones

April 23, 2026v2.6.1

  • "Last updated" on the Offline access page now reflects when your library last checked in with the server, so a healthy online app reads as "just now" instead of "20 hours ago"

  • Tapping the offline indicator in the mobile drawer now closes the drawer as it takes you to Settings

  • Paste import now closes the dialog properly and jumps straight into the editor

  • Transpose +/- buttons show the active semitone count so you can see at a glance how far you've shifted
  • ASCII tab passages with open strings stay at their original frets when transposing down would go below the nut — with a note so you know to play that bit without the capo
  • Copy button in the share dialog now animates to a checkmark, same as the quick-copy button in the menu
  • Copy-link buttons in the Shared menu got a subtle border so they read as buttons
