How to import SongSelect chord charts into Fretlist

Use CCLI SongSelect chord charts in a chord chart app: download them as ChordPro, drop them into Fretlist, and transpose, set a capo and play them on any device.

Looking for an app to play your SongSelect chord charts in? Fretlist reads the ChordPro files that CCLI SongSelect downloads, so a chart comes in as text you can transpose, set a capo on and play from any device: iPad, Android, Windows or Mac.

What you need

  • SongSelect Premium. CCLI offers the ChordPro download to SongSelect Premium subscribers. Not every song has a ChordPro chart; for those, SongSelect gives you a PDF.
  • A Fretlist account. Free to start, in your browser.

Fretlist has no song catalog of its own. Your church's CCLI license still covers the charts you download and use.

Step 1: Download the chart from SongSelect

  1. Log in to SongSelect and open the song.
  2. Click the Chords format.
  3. Click Download and choose ChordPro (not PDF).
  4. Save the file. Do this for each song you want to bring over.

Step 2: Import into Fretlist

  1. Log in to the app: the dashboard has a big dropzone right there.
  2. Drop the downloaded files onto it. Several at once is fine. Fretlist recognizes ChordPro on its own, no need to pick a format.
  3. Review the totals, then hit Import.

The chart imports as it is. The title, artist and key fill in the song's details, and the CCLI number, copyright line and section labels stay in the song exactly as SongSelect wrote them.

Step 3: Play it your way

  • Transpose or capo: change the key or set a capo, and every chord in the chart follows. The setting is saved per song and synced to your other devices.
  • Setlists: put Sunday's songs in order, with the key for each.
  • Play Mode: full screen, auto-scroll, a wake lock, and a Bluetooth page turner.
  • Offline: once synced, the charts open without Wi-Fi.

Playing in a team? In a band workspace everyone reads the same SongSelect charts in their own key and capo, and the singers can switch the chords off. See Fretlist for worship teams.
