TL;DR
A lot of chord sheets live in word processors. Drop the files on the Import card on the Dashboard and Fretlist reads them: .docx from Word or Google Docs, and .odt from LibreOffice. You can drop one file, a whole folder, or a ZIP with a mix of formats inside.
What Fretlist reads
The words and the chords. A chord line written above its lyric is detected the same way it is when you paste a sheet, and a sheet written in ChordPro with [G] brackets or {title:} directives is read as ChordPro.
The title comes from a {title:} directive if there is one, and from the file name if not. Name a file Artist - Title.docx and the artist is filled in too.
Formatting does not come across. Bold, colors and fonts are left behind, because a chord sheet in Fretlist gets its look from your Display settings, not from the file.
What it cannot read
A document that is only a picture of a sheet has no text in it, and Fretlist does not read images yet. It reports the file as one it could not read rather than importing an empty song. The sheet has to be typed or pasted in for now.
Apple Pages files are not supported. Export from Pages as PDF, Word or plain text first.
When nothing imports
If every file was skipped, the preflight says Nothing here could be read and lists each file with the reason, so you can see exactly what happened. It never tells you a file is already in your library unless it actually found a matching song.
