Fretlist is a web app, so there's nothing to download from the App Store or Google Play Store. You install it straight from your browser instead. It still ends up as an icon on your home screen or Dock, opens full screen with no browser bar, and works offline once your songs have synced.
This works the same on an iPhone, iPad, Android phone, Mac, or Windows PC. Pick your device below.
Before you start
You don't need an App Store or Play Store account. Open fretlist.com in your phone or computer's browser, then follow the steps for your device below.
iPhone and iPad (iOS)
On iPhone and iPad you install from Safari (not Chrome or another browser).
- Open fretlist.com in Safari.
- Tap the Share button in the menu bar (the square with an arrow pointing up).
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add in the top corner.
A Fretlist icon appears on your home screen. Open it like any other app and it runs full screen.
Android
On Android you install from Chrome.
- Open fretlist.com in Chrome.
- Tap the ⋮ menu in the top corner.
- Tap Install app (it may read Add to Home screen).
- Confirm with Install.
A Fretlist icon is added to your home screen.
Mac
On a Mac you install from Safari.
- Open fretlist.com in Safari.
- In the menu bar, go to File → Add to Dock.
- Confirm the name and click Add.
Fretlist lands in your Dock and opens in its own window.
Windows
On Windows you install from Chrome or Edge.
- Open fretlist.com in Chrome or Edge.
- Look for the install icon in the address bar (a small monitor or screen with a down arrow), or open the ⋮ menu.
- Click Install, then Install again to confirm.
Fretlist opens in its own window and you can pin it to your taskbar or Start menu.
Signing in the first time
When you open the installed app for the first time, it starts with a fresh session, so you'll need to sign in again even if you were already signed in in your browser. Once you're in, your songs and setlists sync and you stay signed in from then on.
The Install Fretlist prompt
While you're signed in, Fretlist may show a small Install Fretlist card in the corner with the right steps for your device. You can follow that card, or use the steps above any time. Dismissing the card doesn't stop you installing later.
What you get once it's installed
- A home screen or Dock icon, so Fretlist is one tap away.
- A full-screen app with no browser address bar.
- Offline access to your songs and setlists once they've synced, handy on stage or anywhere with no signal.
- Automatic updates. There's nothing to reinstall when a new version ships.
